SVG optimizer

Optimize SVG files with SVGO

The same optimizer build tools use, running in your browser. Pick the plugins, set the precision, drop a whole folder of icons and download them as a ZIP.

Runs in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.

Settings

Fewer decimals make smaller files. Icons on a 24-unit grid usually look identical at 1–2.

How to optimize an SVG

  1. Add files. Open or drop one or more SVGs, or paste code. Each file is optimized as soon as it arrives.
  2. Check the preview. Pick a file in the list to compare the original with the optimized version side by side.
  3. Tune the settings. Every change re-runs all files. If something looks different, lower the precision or switch off the plugin responsible.
  4. Download one file, or all of them as a ZIP. Files are named like logo.min.svg; your originals are not changed.

Which plugins matter most

Optimize path data and Round numbers usually save the most; both follow the precision setting. Clean up IDs shortens IDs, so switch it off if CSS or JavaScript selects elements by ID. Remove width/height is a popular extra: it keeps the viewBox so the SVG scales with CSS. Plugins marked as risky can change how the image looks or is announced by screen readers.

Questions

Will optimizing change how my SVG looks?

With the default plugins and a precision of 3 it almost never does. Very low precision can shift points on large drawings, and the plugins marked risky can remove things you need. Compare the previews before downloading.

Are my files uploaded?

No. SVGO runs as JavaScript in this tab, so your SVGs never leave your device. Your settings are remembered in this browser only.

Why is the optimized file bigger?

That can happen with pretty-printing turned on or with files that were already minified. Turn pretty-print off, or keep the original.
